Merrychef Launch New Catalyst

2nd February 2005

MERRYCHEF has enhanced its range of accelerated ovens with the introduction of a range of catalytic converters for all new and existing ovens.

The new catalytic converter eliminates the need for external extraction which makes it ideal for use in supermarket cafes, kiosks, shopping malls and other non-kitchen applications.

The catalyst converts the smoke (grease laden air), into heat by flameless oxidisation. The heated air then by passes through the converter and is re-circulated into the oven cavity, making it very energy efficient.

Talking about this latest innovation from Merrychef, managing director Graham Veal said:

"The market place is looking for flexibility when it comes to accelerated cooking.  Our customers want the flexibility to operate ovens outside of a kitchen environment, in areas which might not have extraction facilities.  So integral catalytic converters providing grease extraction are becoming a key specification."

There is a range of converters available to fit both the Mealstream 401 and 501 combination ovens.  The new larger 502 model with catalytic converter is designed for use on full protein foods while the 503 and 403 models work better with low to medium protein foods like savoury pastries and re-heating pre-charred burgers.
