Executive Chef Jason Bangerter emerged triumphant from the live cook-off final at the first ever “Iron Chef Accelerated” competition, sponsored by Garland, at Canada’s CRFA Show this week.
Iron man Jason, Executive Chef at the Auberge du Pommier, Oliver Bonacini Restaurants went head to head with fellow Executive Chef and reigning Iron Chef champion Jason Rosso of The Boiler House Restaurant and Distillery Restaurant Group.
The culinary event, in front of a live audience, challenged the chef duo to create five gourmet dishes in less than 40 minutes. The competing chefs used Accelerated Cooking Technology® from Enodis including the Merrychef 402S.
The competition was judged by leading chefs including Roy Perrett, Head of Merrychef’s International Culinary team as well as representatives from two of Canada’s leading schools for culinary training, George Brown College and Humber College. The event was hosted by Toronto’s own Kevin Brauch, face of “The Thirsty Traveller” and reporter for “Iron Chef America: The Series.”
